Ignoring your debt… wage garnishment can happen

If wage garnishment happen to your salary the Internal Revenue Service can get hold of the money from your salary in order to collect what you owe. Wage garnishment is being ordered by to court so that you will be able to pay your debt from your unresolved taxes. Although wage garnishment takes time to take effect to your salary, it will give you a chance to settle your debt without going through a wage garnishment. All you have to do is to make arrangement to the Internal Revenue Service in a form of a payment plan.

However there are procedures that the Internal Revenue Service needs to follow before they can garnish your salary. First, they must assess how must is your debt and they have to send letter informing of unresolved debt from your taxes. Secondly, if first letter are being ignored by the respondent, they have to send a final letter of the said debt. If by chance that the respondent keeps on ignoring the demand letter then they can ask the court of wage garnishment. As a respondent you have a month to resolve your problem by asking for a payment plan so that you can avoid the wage garnishment.

Now, if you keep on ignoring the letter after 30 days then the court has no choice but the put your salary under a wage garnishment so that the Internal Revenue Service can get your payments and this will go on until you pay off all your unresolved debt plus the penalties and interest that have been accumulated for the years that you have not settle your debt. If you think that you can get away from wage garnishment because even though you know your employer well that he or she will say no to wage garnishment you think wrong. Once your employer receives the court order of wage garnishment he or she does not have the choice but to garnish you salary.

You see, the Internal Revenue Service has right to put your salary a wage garnishment or put your bank account under a bank levy in order to have the control of the money which you owe it to them in the first place. So, if you think that wage garnishment is a joke then you better think twice because once wage garnishment happen it will takes years before you can receive your salary in full amount. Chances are you need a 2nd job just to have enough to pay for your rent and basic needs.

Once the Internal Revenue Service has enough of your mistakes and asked for wage garnishment no matter how hard up your life they will get their money one way or the other. So, if you have unresolved debt makes sure that you settle it or contact the Internal Revenue Service so that you can work something in order to prevent wage garnishment to happen to your salary.
